I tried Layton quite a while ago via a decant, and it didn't agree with me at the time. I found it smelled strongly of a sports change room thick with dencorub (if you know, you know). Fast forward to now and if Detour Noir is meant to be a dupe of Layton, then it's less menthol-y, and I have to be honest it's really quite delightful, especially in the dry-down,. But in terms of versatility I don't think I could wear this out-and-about personally, I'm 50+ and don't need my cologne to pierce through a smoke filled nightclub, those days are long behind me. In terms of longevity, this doesn't last as long as Layton. All that said I'm enjoying the occasional spritz, and the service from Scent Discovery was typically excellent.

An absolutely delicious gourmand scent without being overly sweet or too food like.
The apricot and coconut notes are a stand out. Almost toasted coconut or shredded coconut rather than a typical coconut oil fragrance.
