40 Knots opens with a sea breeze, warmed by sun-kissed, vegetal greens and cooled by the surface of the salty water. The bracing, nearly menthol, salt note ebbs and flows through the entire drydown, which gets darker, woodier, and richer with emerging notes of coffee, cedar, and clove. The crisp green and salty beginning softens to reveal a woody, slightly floral heart.

I heard so many good things about this perfume but unfortunately this wasn't for me. I can't quite put my finger on it but it came across as too sweet for me, a little strong possibly like washing detergent?
I was excited for this especially with all the amazing reviews but perfumes, like art, is subjective which is why I bought the sample because I didn't want to spend a lot of money on something I might not like. The first spritz was nice but once it dried down it was very powdery. It's like a wedding dress. Once you know, you know, and this unfortunately wasn't it for me.
